On Thursday, August 23,
Complex Community Federal Credit Union (CCFCU) made a generous donation of
school supplies to the Monahans-Wickett-Pyote Independent School District.
The
supplies will benefit both students and teachers throughout the school year.
This is the fourth year that CCFCU has held this community effort called Supply Our Students (SOS).
Carolyn Jones, manager of CCFCU, was present and made sure that the supplies were all unloaded. When asked about the program SOS she commented, "I think that it is wonderful. This is our fourth year to take donations and send them to the schools and we've had a great response from the community and also from Target. Target donated a lot of our supplies this year and deserve recognition."
Jones supervised the unloading crew that she brought which included Phillip Ormsby, Kaitlyn Simpson, Madie Simpson, Norma Hernandez, Megan Dutton, and her grandchildren Brandon and Quentin Jones. Principal Jeff Jones also joined in to lend a hand.
The crew that Jones brought unloaded the mounds of supplies and stacked them in the Sudderth cafeteria until principals of other schools came by to collect what they might need for the school year. Although Sudderth was the drop off point for CCFCU, all the schools will get a portion of the donated supplies. The supplies will be used for students who don't have supplies or when supplies break or wear out, such as backpacks, and need to be replaced.
