After co-hosting the Sandhills Tournament, the Loboes and Yellow Jackets fought for their own bragging rights on Monday night.
The Loboes came out of the battle on top with a 16-6
score.
Kermit's Harold Lopez gave Monahans a scare to start the game, bringing home center fielder Hunter Hardaway for the first run of the game.
But the Loboes stepped up to catch a left field fly ball, an easy out and a strike out by Mike Gonzales.
Even though the Loboes were able to get hits, the Yellow Jackets did not allow any base runners to get home.
Kermit came back to turn a one-run lead into a three-run lead in second.
The Loboes answered by scoring five runs in the bottom of the second to take control of the game.
Kermit managed to bring one runner home in the third before the Loboes' defense forced Kermit's play out.
A batting out of turn forced the Loboes to turn the game back over to Kermit in the bottom of the fourth.
The Loboes did not let their errors affect them as they took advantage of the base on balls from Kermit's Raul Resendez. They scored three runs before the change of pitcher and then scored another four runs in the fifth inning.
The Loboes capped the runs with three more in the sixth inning to end the game.
On the following day the Loboes traveled to San Angelo to test the Grape Creek baseball team.
Monahans once again came out on top with a 5-2 win.
Miguel Gonzales took the mound for the Loboes and pitched a strong game allowing only two runs, both in the fifth inning to tie the score.
Not to be outdone the Loboes scored three more runs in the sixth to take the lead permanently.
The 6-3 Loboes will travel to Seminole for tournament play before starting district play on Monday. The Loboes will host the district opener against Presidio beginning at 7 p.m.
