The Bucks defeated the Loboes 2-1 on Tuesday night.

Tico Olivas pitched the first three innings, allowing only two runners on base.  In the third inning, Olivas struck out the Bucks.

"Tico Olivas did a fine job on the mound," Coach Arcadio Rivera said.

Alpine scored both of their runs in the forth with Larry Jasso pitching.

"I thought we played well enough on defense to win.  We made a couple of errors in that inning that allowed Alpine to score their two runs, and that was the end of our errors," Rivera said.

Miguel Gonzales was the closer for the Loboes.

"Miguel also did a good job, but he threw away an easy double play ball which allowed Alpine to load the bases," Rivera said.

Monahans had a trying run at second with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, however, the Buck's left-fielder caught a  Jasso fly ball for the final out.

"Offensively, I  am very disappointed.  We got six or seven hits, but we did not hit the ball well with runners on base," Rivera said.

"We have got to go to the plate with confidence that we are going to make contact, and as a result, put pressure on our opponent's defense."

The Loboes will open up the Sandhills Tournament on Thursday against Lamesa at 6 p.m.
