The Lobo Baseball team scrimmaged against two teams on Thursday night. No scores were kept during the scrimmage.
The first scrimmage was four innings against Kermit, which was
Kermit's first scrimmage of the season.
"Larry Jasso did a fine job of pitching for one inning," Coach Rivera said. Mike Gonzales, who has never pitched actually did fine for never pitching. We did manage to hit the ball in this scrimmage- a little."
The second scrimmage was against Crane.
"We did better against Kermit than Crane." Rivera said,
"We did not hit the ball at all. I think we managed two or three hits all night. I am very disappointed in our hitting right now."
"Miguel Gonzales pitched two innings, and he looked ok the second inning he pitched. Then T.J. Brooks threw the next two innings, and he did ok," Rivera said. "Blake Whisnand pitched the other inning, and he did not throw well. Hi is off in his mechanics. We need for him and the rest to be ale to pitch three or four innings if they can not go the entire seven innings."
"Crane hit the ball very well. They are in mid-season from," Rivera said.
"We have really been stressing defense and timely hitting is a goal for us to win and have any chance at returning to the playoffs." he added.
The Loboes will open their season on Tuesday at Kermit with the Varsity beginning at 5 p.m.
The game will be a two-hour time limit game. The JV will play here against Kermit JV beginning at 5 p.m. and it will also be a two-hour limit game.
