After beating Brownfield 4-2 in the Sandhills Tournament last week, Monahans traveled to Brownfield for a 11-12 loss to the Cubs on Tuesday.

Monahans was unable to score in the first four innings of the game. Brownfield on the other hand, scored three runs in the first inning and seven in the fourth, making the score at the end of the fourth inning 10-0. The Loboes weren't giving up, however, and made and amazing comeback by scoring 10 runs in the fifth inning.

"This is a game that we showed character by being down 10 to zero.  Our kids fought back and made a game out of it," said Coach Arcadio Rivera.

On of the game highlights was a grand slam by Quincy Titus in the fifth inning.  The grand slam tied the game at 10.

Pitching for Monahans was Brandon Jaquez, Blake Hughes, and Dominique Estorga.  The team is still trying to find their best pitchers before heading into district, which begins March 23.

"Brandon Jaquez did a good job of pitching.  We did not field the ball well behind him," said coach Rivera.  "We Really should have won this game in the seventh.  We had bases loaded and no outs and managed to score on run out of the whole mess."

The coaching staff sees more potential in the students than what is actually coming through in the games.  "We are playing like an average team and we are not an average team", said Coach Rivera.

The Loboes will participate in the Greenwood tournament March 8-10.  After an afternoon game against Lubbock Roosevelt at CitiBank Field, the team will travel to Greenwood for a 7 pm game against Iowa Park.
