After losing their own Sandhills Tournament to Fort Stockton in early March, the Lobo baseball team had some vengeance to dole out in the district 2-3A game on Tuesday.

After the first five innings, it was still anyone's game.  The score was tight with Monahans in a one-run, 4-3 lead.  The Loboes sealed the deal in the final two innings to come away with a massive 16-3 win.

Pitching for Monahans was Paul Dominguez, who stuck out seven, and finished the sixth inning in just seven pitches.

In the final inning, the Loboes brought home nine runners.  Three of those runs came in when senior Anthony Cota hit a bases-loaded triple.

Outfielder Sean Merrick also tripled in the game, and was 4-for-5.

Hitting double were catcher Tico Olivas and Merrick.

The win over Fort Stockton gives the Loboes a 1-1 district recorded.  Friday, Monahans faces Pecos, who defeated Fort Stockton in their first district game last week.  Pecos will host the game at 7pm Friday.
