Weekend

Lobo baseball had a
successful weekend at their own Sandhills tournament at Lobo field,
dropping only one game and finishing in third place overall.
On Thursday, the Loboes defeated Morton 5-3 before tying 3-3 with Hereford. Blake Hughes hit a double against Hereford while Kalep Warden tripled. Monahans was sent to the third-place game in the tie-breaker, and Hereford advanced to the championship.
Monahans blasted Presidio 12-3 in the third-place round, ending the game early on the tournament run rule. The game got off to a steady start for both teams, who each scored one run in the first inning. After a scoreless second, the Loboes settled down and took six runs in the third, then five in the fourth, while Presidio only scored twice.
Ty Horton was the game's winning pitcher, and doubled in the third-place game, as did Hughes.
Monahans will host Sandhills tournament champion, Brownfield, in a 5pm game Tuesday night at Lobo field.
