The Lobo varsity basketball team traveled to Greenwood Tuesday night to face the Rangers in a non-district game.  One player short, the Loboes were unable to take home a win, losing by 23 points, 64-41.

The Loboes have been rotating five players with a time, but weren't able to do that in this game because Arnold Rodriguez was out sick.

Chris Roberson was the only player to hit double figures with 10 points, followed by Chris Bates with 7 points.

The Loboes shot 45 percent in two-point field goals.  This is an improvement over the 30-ish percent average in previous games, according to Coach Thomas Clay.

"This is where they got us.  They had six more three-pointers than us.  We made one, and they made seven," said Coach Clay.  "On the three-points, we normally shoot 22 percent, and (Tuesday night) we shot 9 percent.

The Loboes were one for 11 in three-pointers, Chris Bates making the game's only three-point goal for the Loboes.  Another leading Lobo was Tanner Owens who had 5 rebounds and 2 offensive rebounds.

Tuesday marks the second time the Loboes have fallen to Greenwood this year.  Tuesday night's loss was a step-up over the 37-point defeat earlier this month.

"Greenwood is just a really, really good team" said Clay.  "They're very good.  They're big and athletic.  They shoot well, and they rebound well.  They're ranked fourth in our region."

The varsity Loboes play Andrews here next Tuesday at 7:00, the last game before district play.
