We've got spirit, yes we do |

The Monahans High School Cheerleaders recently attended cheer camp at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene. Squad members are seniors Allison Jordan and Trisha Clements; juniors, Candace Swarb, Brittany Hughes, Shea Scott, Brianna Williams, Erin Garcia, Whitney Gonzalez; and mascot Jordan Sellers.
The squad worked very hard and earned their share of honors and awards. The girls brought homes the "Herkie Award," which is given to the squad that exemplifies leadership, values, and teamwork. They also received a trophy for "Champion Chant," for the squad that portrays the most spirit and technique.
Each day of the camp the girls received the spirit stick for their abilities to work and get along with other teams and exemplify school spirit. During daily evaluations they received seven "Superior" ribbons for portraying excellent team work as well as athletic abilities in their chants and cheers.
The highest honor a camper can receive is to be nominated for "All American." All eight cheerleaders were nominated for that honor, and Allison Jordan, Trisha Clements, Candace Swarb, and Brittany Hughes walked away winners.
