Runners do well at Regionals

Monahans High Cross Country members, Dasiy Zamarripa and Chris Collins competed at Regional meet in Lubbock on Saturday morning.

"I was very proud of both kids during the meet.  They have really improved over the last year," Coach Wade Gilliam said.

Zamarripa finished 38th of 160 competitors.  "She has improved since last year.  Last year she place around 80th, so you can really see the improvement," Gilliam said.

Collins finished 62nd of 162 competitors.  "I was really proud of him since he was competing after a long night of football the night before and getting up at 5 this mourning to run," Gilliam said.

The state cross-country meet will be held November 13, but Monahans did not qualify to compete at that level.
