Monahans Boys, Presidio Girls Run Away with 2-3A Championships

MONAHANS  The Monahans High School boys won the team title in the District 2-3A Cross Country Champion-ships at Ward County Golf Course on Monday.

The Loboes had 32 points to beat Fort Stockon (47) and Pecos (58).  All three teams qualify for the Region I-3A Championships on Nov. 4 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.

Monahans put all five runners in the top 11.

Fort Stockton’s Sam Franklin won the individual boys title in 17 minutes, 33.22 seconds and Eduundo Navarrete was third for the Panthers.

In the girls meet, Fort Stockton’s Rela Bernal won the individual title to help her team finish second and earn a regional berth.  Presidio won the girls team title with 36 points, while the Prowlers were second with 49 points and Pecos was third with 62.
ntoya took sixth.
Crane’s Lara Lopez was eighth and Alpine’s Wren Keyes was 10th to earn individual regional berths.
