Dairy Queen supports youth education programs Monahans
News - 10/31/02 ![]()

The Family and Consumer Science Department of Monahans High School recently received a donation from the Monahans Dairy Queen, owned by Perry and Sheila Anderson. The money will be used to purchase needed supplies for food labs for Nutrition and Food Science and Personal and Family Development classes.
"Our students will benefit by the opportunities this generous gift provides," said instructor Pam Baker. "We're extremely grateful for the Anderson's interest in the youth of MHS."
Family and Consumer Science classes span a wide gamut of subjects: Preparation for Parenting, Child Development, Housing, Interior Design, Apparel, Individual and Family Living, and Family and Career Management.
"The Family and Consumer Science department also has a fund raiser through the Family Career Community Leaders of America organization. Open to the public, students sell Otis Spunkmeyer cookies. The cookies are popular for dessert or refreshments during meetings. The students order, bake, package and sell them. The public is welcome to encourage the students to develop vocational and business skills by ordering cookies. Orders may be placed with any FCCLA students or by calling the high school at 943-2519," Baker said.
