The freshman Lobo football team hosted the Andrews Mustangs on Thursday. The team came away with a 28-6 win, improving their season record to an undefeated 3-0.
Blake Thompson was the Lobo of the night scoring all four touchdowns on runs of three, six and 48 yards. He also caught a pass from Wade Roark and scampered 30 yards for his fourth touchdown of the night. Roark added 2 PAT's and threw a 2-point conve4rsion to Gael Espinoza to round out the scoring.
"I thought the Offensive line did a great job taking
control of the line of scrimmage. They wore the Andrews team down and dominated
the second half. Coach Gilliam has done a great job with that group of kids. Coach Golson also had our defense on the spot all night. We made two great goal
line stands when Andrews had the ball first-and-goal from the six one time, and
first- and- goal from the nine another time.
" I think every did we had playing Thursday night gave us a tremendous effort on both sides of the ball.
"Micah Ramsey ran the ball great. Kendrick Anderson caught several big passes. Ricky Robledo had a huge third-down catch that allowed us to a 98 yard drive for our first touchdown, and Wad Roark has don an excellent job of leading this group from the Quarterback position all year," said coach Burnett.
Some of the defensive standouts were Wade Roark, Ricky Robledo, Tyler Lightner, Timothy Ontiverious, Anthony Ford, Jose Armendariz, Enrique Licon, and Micah Ramsey.
The Offensive Lineman are Ernest Rodriguez, Bubba Boyett, Daniel Lopez, Anthony Ford, and Alex Wetzig.
"This was another big win for the freshman. We are very excited about this group of Loboes" concluded Coach Burnett.
The freshman will play Kermit in a home game this Thursday at 5 pm.
