Monahans Reaches End of the
Playoff Road

The Monahans Lobo football season came to an end
of Friday in a 14-40 loss to Snyder Tigers. Teams and Coaches braved
30-something degree weather at Grande Communications Stadium in Midland at the
Area-round playoff game.
The Loboes lost their first possession to the Tigers at their own 21-yard line, when Snyder recovered a Monahans fumble. The Tigers took the turnover into the end zone a few plays later. The two-point conversion started the s core at 0-8 less than for minutes into the game.
Later in the first, Clay Anthony pushed up the middle, inside the two-yard line to set up a Monahans score at first and goal. Anthony took it up the middle again, this time in the end zone, putting the Loboes on the board, 6-8.
In the two-point attempt, a five-yard penalty was handed to the Loboes, and the conversion failed.
Near the end of half, Snyder intercepted a pass and took it to their own 24-yard line.
Two plays later, Chase Arrendale fought past the Lobo defense in a 72-yard touchdown run to put Monahans on the losing end of a 6-27 halftime score.
Monahans lost two more possession to Snyder, including another interception and one fumble, and the Tigers were able to score again off the turn-over's.
The Loboes made the season's final visit to the end zone in the final minutes of the game, after Childress ran for three first downs to help bring the Green into Snyder Territory. When Owens caught a pass, it put Monahans at first-and -goal from the five.
Two plays later, it was Childress in the end zone. Fabian Flores caught the two-point conversion pass.
Monahans ends their season with a 14-40 loss.
Anthony led the Loboes with 75 yards rushing, followed by Tyson Childress with 68.
Tigers running back Will Clay tore up the field with 221 rushing yards, just six yards shy of Monahans total yardage account.
The Loboes finish up the 2007 season with a 6-5 record. Snyder will play Argyle in the Regional round this week.
