Lady Loboes drop to 2-3 in district

The Lady Loboes took on the Lamesa Tornados on Tuesday for the first district game after the holidays.  Unfortunately, the ladies were defeated 58-44.

The Lady Loboes started strong with a three-point lead in the first period.

However, the Tors gained 16 points in the second period, while the Ladies were only able to put up 11 points.

In the third, Monahans scored 16 points, to tie the score at 42-42.

The Tors' defense stopped the Ladies in the fourth period, allowing them to score only 2 points.

Jacquelyn Hopkins got on the board for 17 points, and Jenna Fann scored 16 points.  Other scorers were Catherine Cutbirth and Chelsea Cartwright with 4 points and Brianna Chaney with 3 points.

The Lady Loboes' next game was played Friday against the Seminole Maidens.

The Lady Loboes fell to the Maidens Friday night with the score of 62-27.

That brings the Ladies to 2-3 in district play.

Monahans was able to get 9 points on the board for the first period with one 3-pointer from Hopkins.  The Maidens, however, pit up 13 points with one 3-pointer early in the game.

In the second period, Seminole's defense held Monahans to just 2 scores, one 3 pointer and a shot from the free throw.  The Maidens were able to put up 19 points before half time.

Seminole's defense held Monahans to 8 points in the third, while the Maidens scored 17.

The Maidens came up big with 13 points in the fourth, to take the game, while the Lady Loboes scored just 6 points.

Top scorers for the game were Hopkins with 9 points and Jenna Fann with 7 points.  Other scorers were Dina Ortiz with 5, Catherine Cutbirth with 4 and Chelsea Cartwright 2 points.

The Lady Loboes' next game will be Tuesday at Ft. Stockton with tip-off at 6 p.m.
