The Lady Loboes overpowered the Greenwood Rangerettes 60-41 during Tuesday night's game.

"I thought we played well.  Anytime we have a few players that are willing to step back and take the shot, I'm happy.  There were a few of the girls that played with as much heart as I've seen all season long.  You could just tell they wanted to win that one," Coach Terri Hopkins said.

The Rangerettes took control of the ball early in the game scoring 8 points, but the Lady Loboes came back in the last two minutes of the first quarter taking the lead 13-8.

Eighteen points later, Monahans held the lead for half time, keeping Greenwood just 12 points in the second.

The Ladies kept the lead in the third with 13-9 run.

In the fourth, The Ladies scored 16 points, of those 10 points from the free throw line.  The Rangerettes managed to get 12 points on the board.

Top scorers for the game were Jenna Fann with 19points, Jacquelyn Hopkins with 18 points and Dina Ortiz with 10 points.

"We did good, we were determine to win," Jenna Fann said.

This win puts the Lady Loboes in third place for the 3-3A District, with Seminole leading 8-0, and Lamesa 6-2 for second place.

Greenwood is now 5-4, Fort Stockton 2-7, Pecos 3-6 and Presidio 0-8.  In basketball, the top three in each district will advance to the playoffs.

However, The Ladies have three games left, Lamesa, Seminole, and Fort Stockton.

"It will be a miracle to beat Seminole but we just need to beat to beat Fort Stockton and Lamesa to be in the playoffs," Fann said.

"If we beat Lamesa on Friday, we will be in the play-offs as long as we don't foll around and lose to Fort Stockton.  That win will put us in a tie for second place with Lamesa.  If we beat them, we are ahead.  But then we play Seminole.  If we lose to Seminole, then we'll be tied again.  We will probably flip for play-off seeding for second and third.  It's still up in the air.  We still have to win 2 of the next 3." Hopkins said.

The Game against Lamesa will be Friday, 6 p.m., at the Jerry Larned Sports Complex.

The Seminole game will be played Tuesday, Feb. 1, starting at 6 p.m. in Seminole.

The girls' last district game against Fort Stockton will be played Friday, Feb. 4, in the Jerry Larned Sports Complex at 6 p.m.
