Loboes win Hometown Tournament

On Friday and Saturday, the Ward County Golf Course hosted the Monahans Sandhills Boys Golf Tournament for twelve schools.
The Monahans boys came back from 16 shots down to win the Sandhills Tounament by 13 strokes over rival Fort Stockton.
Fort Stockton's 319 on Friday gave 16 shot lead over
Monahans in second place with a score of 336. The Loboes turned in the best
round of the tournament with 316 score on Saturday coming from behind to win the
hometown tournament with a two-day total of 651.
Fort Stockton finished second with a two-day total of 664.
Finishing in the third place was the Lamesa team with scores of 355-348 for a total of 703.
Brent Bennett of Midland Trinity took the Medalist honor with rounds of 76-74 for a 150 total. Second place went to Michael Nichols of Pecos with scores of 76-77 for 153. J.W. Burnett and Joe Joe Birdwell tied for third with scores of 82-76 each, for a total for 158.
Other Monahans Golfers include Victor Calzada shot 80-85 for 165 total. Jerry Heflin turned in scores of 94-79 to shoot 173, and Shelton Burnett shot pair of 91's for a total of 182.
The Monahans "B" team was lead by Cory Petree, with scores of 88-98 for 186. Chad Gray shot 104-93 for 197 total. In third for the group, Chase Cornelius who shot 98-100 for 198 and Justin Ochoa finished with scores 89-114 for a 203 total
The boys will travel to Big Spring on Feb. 11 and 12 for the Big Spring Invitational.
