The Lobo Golf team participated in the Tall City Invitational
Golf Tournament this past weekend and placed ninth in a field of 18, shooting
team scores of 338 and 331.
Joe Joe Birdwell lead the team again this weekend with scores of 78 & 82, followed by J.W. Burnett with 80 & 81.
Victor Calzada came back Saturday with a very good round of 78, after posting an 86 on Friday. Cory Petree shot scores of 98 & 90, and Zach Price rounded out the scoring with rounds of 94 and 98.
This week the boys' reams have tournaments in Lamesa on Wednesday and in Andrews on Friday and Saturday.
"We didn't play as good as we hoped to this weekend, but we didn't see what kind of competition we would be facing this year in the Regional Tournament. We've got a long way to go to earn that trip to Austin that this group wants to make," Coach David Burnett said. "I thought Victor really stepped up on Saturday, shooting one of his best rounds in tournament play.
That's the kind of play we need out of everyone to get to the level of play we feel like we are capable of."
