Lobo golf was in Austin this weekend at the Andrews Invitational Meet.  The team finished in eight place out of 12 teams at the two day tournament.

Justin Ochoa lead the team with scores of 84-84.  Anthony Armendariz scored 89-86, Garrett King 88-89, Kevin Coldewey 90-87, and Timmy Fuentes 91-92.

"I thought this was a very good tournament for us to attend, we had a chance to see the caliber of golf it will take to get to the State tournament later in the spring and we also had a chance to see the golf course that we will play if we get there.  It is quite a bit different than the open spaces we play on week to week and the change was good for our young golfers," said Coach David Burnett.

This year's state tournament will be held May 10-11 after the Region I tournament in Odessa.

"I think these guys see what they are going to have to work on to get their game to the point where we can compete with these teams at a higher level.  Over all it was a good experience and good trip."

Next on the Lobo golf schedule is the Fort Stockton Varsity Invitational on February 15-16 in Fort Stockton.
