The boys golf team of Justin Ochoa, Tyler Watson, Anthony Armendariz, Kevin Coldewey, and Rex Rose won the Seminole Invitational Golf Tournament this past Tuesday.

Ochoa led the Loboes with a score of 79, followed by Rose at 81, Watson at 82 and Armendariz with an 83.  Coldewey rounded out the scoring with an 87.

Ochoa's round put him in a three-way tie for third place in the medalist race, but lost to one of the players from Tulia on the first playoff hole.

"This was the first win this year for the Lobo teams in a varsity tournament.  It was very exciting to watch these guys light up when they realized they were in the drivers seat and had a shot at winning the tournament," said Coach David Burnett.

"I thought they were generally proud of each other and their accomplishments.  I asked them before they got out of the bus Tuesday to learn something today - do not let the wind be a factor in the game and try some different types of shots to keep the ball from being so affected by the gusty winds."  They responded very well and the results showed they could be a competitive team in this region."

The Loboes beat several of the teams that will have a chance to be at the regional tournament.

On March 12, the Loboes will play in the Lamesa Varsity Invitational, the last varsity tournament that remains before the first round of district play.
