This past weekend the Lobo golf team participated in the Tall City Invitational in Midland.
"We played the best round of the year on Fri
day
shooting a score of 324," said Coach David Burnett.
On Friday, Justin Ochoa led the team with a score of 78, followed by Anthony Armendariz with an 80. Kevin Coldewey shot an 82, and Tyler Watson carded an 84. Timmy Fuentes turned in a 92.
"Then the winds came, and things were a little rough on Saturday. We shot a score of 354 and dropped from sixth place to eight. These are the conditions we need to be able to compete in because out here in West Texas those are the kinds of day we are going to have every once in a while."
Armendariz came back on Saturday shooting 81. Ochoa came through with an 83, Watson and Fuentes both shot 95, and Coldewey had 97.
"We saw the teams that will be back for the regional tournament. That gives us a great insight for what we need to do in the future if we plan to get out of the regional tournament," said Burnett.
This week, one team will go to Lamesa on Wednesday, and another team will compete in Andrews on Friday and Saturday.
