Ladies Win 1st District Round

The first round of girls' district golf play was held in Fort Stockton on Tuesday. The team gave an impressive performance both as a team and individually.

The Monahans I team is in first place with a score of 330, beating put Pecos, who scored 364.  In third place is Monahans II with 370, followed by Fort Stockton in fourth place with 428.

"I am very proud of these girls.  The competed extremely will,' said Coach Becky Hix, whose team currently claims seven of the top 10 individual spots.

Paige Shaw shot 78 and is ranked first in the medallist standings.  Also in medal standings are Shelbye with a score of 80 and Jordan Jernigan who is tied for third with 85.  Victoria Moore shot an 87 for fifth place, Kelsey Kilcrease on 88 for sixth place, and Quen Carter an 89 for seventh place.  In ninth place is Courtney Rutledge with 92.  Hilary Salcido and Brittany West are in twelfth and thirteenth, with scores of 94 and 95, respectively.  Allison Parks, who shot 97, is ranked fifteenth, and Ashton Haynes is eighteenth with a score of 101.  Monahans will host the second round of district play on Tuesday, April 3.  The third round will be in Pecos on Friday, April 13.
