Power-lifting regional qualifiers

Kimbra Mitchell, a freshman at Monahans High School, is a
first-year power-lifter. Mitchell has attended two meets this year.
At the Reagan County Meet in Big Lake, she earned her first power-lifting medal
by placing third with a total of 490 lbs. At the Kermit Power-lifting
Meet, she had her personal best of 250 lbs in squats and 105 in bench
press. Mitchell has qualified for the Regional power-lifting meet to be
held in Kermit on Saturday, March 5. 
Vasquez is a senior at Grandfalls-Royalty High School and the school's only female lifter. Vasquez has participated in power-lifting since her sophomore year. She has advanced to state twice, receiving third place each year. This year, Vasquez has attended three meets. At the Monahans Sandhills Meet on Jan. 22, she received first place in her weight class and second overall with a total of 680 lbs. She also participated in the Odessa Bronco Meet on Jan. 29, where she received first in her weight class, first overall and outstanding lifter with a total of 705 lbs. On Feb. 12, she attended the Reagan County Meet in Big Lake. She received first place in her weight class with a total of 715 lbs. Vasquez had qualified for the Regional power-lifting meet that will be held in Kermit on Saturday, March 5. She is the daughter of Rosa and Roberto Vasquez of Grandfalls.
