Seven Loboes qualify for Regional Powerlifting

Seven lobo powerlifters will attend the regional Meet held this weekend in Lubbock.
Kelton Mitchell, a freshmen at Monahans High School and a first year
powerlifter will compete in the 114-weight class. Mitchell has attended
three meets this year. At the Sandhills Meet on Jan. 22 he lifted a total
of 495 lbs, on Jan. 29 he lifted a total of 565 at the Broncos Invitational and
at the Broncos Invitational and at the Reagan County meet held in Big Lake,
Mitchell put in his best lift at 570 lbs.
Mitchell is sitting at seventh
place in the region. Mitchell is the son of Miki and Tommie
"Juba" Mitchell.
In the 123-weight class, Pablo Jimenez will complete for the Loboes. Jimenez is a freshmen at MHS and a first time powerlifter. He has attended three meets this year. At the Sandhills Meet, Jimenez lifted a total of 605 lbs. On Jan. 29 he lifted a total of 600 lbs, lifted his qualifying weight at the Kermit Meet with a total of 660 lbs. Jimenez is currently at ninth place in the region. He his the son of Jose and Elizabeth Jimenez.
Noel Ice, another freshmen will also make the trip to Lubbock.
Over the four meets this year, Ice has steadily improved his weight total in the 132-weight class. At Monahans he lifted a total of 640 lbs. In Odessa Ice lifted 670 lbs. He went up to 715 lbs at the Reagan County meet and topped the weight at 745 lbs at the Kermit meet. Ice is the son of Lyn and Lanny Ice.
Rawely Ice, a junior, is also qualified for the Regional meet. Rawely Ice is the brother to Noel Ice. He has taken part in three meets this year. In the 148-weight class, he lifted 810 lbs at the Monahans meet. He put in his best weight at the Reagan County meet with a total of 890 lbs and he lifted 860 lbs at the Kermit Meet.
Junior Cody Anthony qualified in the 148-weight class, Anthony lifted 800 lbs at the Monahans meet and 825 lbs at the Kermit Meet. He is the son of Cathy and Cary Anthony.
Justin Parks, the son of Judge Bob and Cathy Parks, will compete in the Super Heavy Weight class at Regionals. This year the junior has lifted at two meets. At the hometown meet he put in his best with a total of 1140 lbs total at the Reagan County meet.
The final lifter going to Regional is the son of Mike and Donnette Murphree. Michael Murphree, a sophomore is sitting at fourth in the region with a total of 1315 lbs in the Super Heavy Weight class. The 1315 lbs was recorded at the Kermit meet.
He has steadily improved over the four meets this year. At the Monahans meet he lifted a total of 1200 lbs. He increased the weight to 1285 at the Odessa meet and then 1310 lbs at the Reagan County meet.
