Third time is the charm for Vasquez

For the third straight year Lacey Vasquez, a senior at Grandfalls, will make a run at the state title in powerlifting.

Vasquez finished in third place in Region One in her weight class, lifting a total of 710 lbs.  In her division, including the 1A and 2A classes, she placed second earning her third trip to the State Meet that will be held March 18 and 19 in Killeen.  Lacey Vasquez is the daughter of Rosa and Roberto Vasquez.

Kimbra Mitchell a freshman at Monahans High, finished seventh place in Region One in her weight class, lifting a total of 611 lbs.  "She did a great job," Coach Mickey Mitchell said.  Kimbra Mitchell is the daughter of Miki and Tommie "Juba" Mitchell.

These two ladies competed in the Regional Powerlifting Meet held this past weekend in Kermit.
