Two Lobo lifters bring home medals

The Monahans boys' power lifting team competed in the Regional Power lifting Meet this past weekend at Lubbock Roosevelt High School.

"We as coaches were very proud of our power lifters this season.  This is the most boys that have ever qualified for the Regionals from Monahans.  What is also exciting is that all our lifters will be back next year," Coach Mickey Mitchell and Coach Chris McWilliams agreed.

Sophomore Michael Murphree and freshman Kelton Mitchell each brought home a medal from the Regional meet.

Murphree won fourth place in the Super Heavy weight class.  His total pounds was 1345.

Mitchell won the fifth place medal in the 114-weight class.  His total pounds were 655.

Freshman Pablo Jimenez narrowly missed the fifth place medal with a total of 695 lbs in the 123-weight class. 

Freshman Noel Ice lifted a total of 690 lbs in the 132-weight class.

Junior Rawley Ice competed in the 148-weight class.  He had a total of 830 lbs.

Junior Cody Anthony asl competed in the 148-weight class.  He had a total of 840 lbs.

Junior Justin Parks had a top 10 finish in the Super Heavy weight class.  His total was 1205 lbs.
