Big Green Band:  Bigger and Better
    By Vivi Ramos

In the world of marching bands, bigger is usually better.  Using that logic, this should be a banner year for the 185-member Big Green Band.

With two new drum majors and a new show, the band is ready to strut their stuff at halftimes and competitions.

Drum majors this year are Tiffany Blackwell and Victor Calzada, both very talented seniors.

The 2005-2006 band is led by Directors Jeff Whitaker, Brandt Sayger, Cathleen Padden, and Gerardo Loya.

Non-band members are missing out this year as the band's annual competition trip is Durango, Colorado.

Activities will include white-water rafting, going to Mesa Verde National Park.

Each camper will room in their own condo.  Band members will be provided their own groceries and have the opportunity to cook their own meals.

Monahans High band will attend the Tall City Marching contest October 1st. although they are ineligible for state this year.

Music for this year includes, "EspanaCani", "Don't Cry for me Argentina", and the "Mask of Zorro".

"This years band is bigger and better and we have been working hard since July 26th," said Whitaker.
