Fresh Fish Find Friends, Fight Fears
By Brittany Slade
The first day of high school at a new high school can be
nerve-racking, confusing, and exiting all at the same time. This year's freshmen
agree but also stress that there are many things about high school that is
better than junior high.
Several were interested in the increase of opposite gender
possibilities.
"There are more hot guys," Kellie Almanza replied.
Stephen Neel agreed with a smile "there are more
ladies."
Freshman year can be intimidating at first. When asked what
the scariest thing about high school Aaron Armendariz said, "Getting
Lost."
"I was scared what the senior guys would do to me,"
CJ Harris said.
High school is obviously different from junior high and the
first few days usually not only bring the nervousness of the unknown but the
excitement of discovering new things.
"Lunch is better and there are a lot more people
here," Kelcie Miles said.
Brittany Fann is just happy to be here at MHS with her big
brother, Devon.
When the 2006 seniors were freshman there were some graduating
seniors that we all thought were the hottest thing since sliced bread. Today's
freshmen are no different.
Tyler Watson's favorite seniors this year are Gentry Watson,
of course, and Janessa Rodriguez. Kassie George's favorite seniors are Laura
Rameriz and Sam Graves.
Some of the most embarrassing moments in high school happen
during our freshmen year. Spencer Phipps was embarrassed about having to ask
everyone where his classes where. Debbie Grey fell down the stairs trying to
hurry to class.
"I was embarrassed because I accidentally walked into
the boy's bathroom," Cat Terry said.
When asked the best thing about being a fish, Blake Hughes
answered as only he could, "Swimming underwater."
