By Sam Graves
If you have heard a guy walking down the hall saying, "Sam you gonna do any work in my class today?" then you know who coach Thomas Clay is.
Clay came to Monahans from Valley High School in Turkey, Texas. While at Valley Clay served as the defensive coordinator for the football team and was also the head basketball coach, winning 62% of his games.
"Last year we played for the state championship in football," Clay said. "It was a neat experience that I hope the Loboes get to experience."
In Monahans Clay has taken the head basketball coaching job and also helps out with freshman football.
While at Iraan High School, clay participated in football, basketball, track, UIL, drama, band, and student council.
"I grew up in a small town where everyone did everything," Clay said. "I think MHS has those same opportunities."
After high school Clay attended McMurry College where he met his wife Julia, who works as a counselor for Crane.
"I met her playing basketball," Clay said. "She came in and wanted to play so we reluctantly said ok. Then we discovered reall quickly that she was good...real good."
