Softball team wins at
tournament, loses at home

On Thursday, the Lady Loboes defeated Greenwood 10-0 in the first round of the Midland Tournament.
Heather Schuler pitched a one hitter and
five strikeouts.
Brianna Chaney and Heather Schuler each hit double. Lupe Navarrette hit two doubles, and Raquel Hawkins hit two doubles and a triple.
On Saturday, The Lady Loboes defeated the number seventh ranked 5A, Lubbock Coronado with the score of 3-1.
"A bad call by the umpire ended up costing us our only run. We scored off a walk given to Stacie Fuentes, and in that allowed Lupe Navarrette to score in the 4th. Then Raquel hit a triple to score Brianna Chaney and Heather Schuler in the 5th. We had good hits by Ashton Jarrett and Dina Ortiz to round off our hitting," Coach Kasey Kinney said.
The Lady Loboes pounded the El Paso Hanks 5-1 in their last game of the tournament.
Hawkins hit another triple while Schuler hit two singles, Chaney, Jarrett, Fuentes and Kaitlin Mitchell each hit singles.
"Overall, the games were solid. We learned to overcome out errors, and were able to bring out record to 5 and 2," Kinney said.
Odessa High defeated the Lady Loboes 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon at the Lady Loboes softball field.
With no scored on the board, both teams decided to go to the international tiebreaker in the ninth inning.
The first run scored by the Lady Broncos was a misplayed groundball. The Lady Broncos secured their win by striking out the Lady Loboes in the bottom of the ninth.
The Ladies' season record stands at 5-3.
The Lady Loboes will travel to San Angelo for the San Angelo Tournament this weekend.
