Softball season officially started on Monday.

This year the ladies will be working under the direction of  new coach.

Coach Kasey Kinney moved here from Liberty, near Houston.

"I grew up in Andrews and moving to Liberty was different.   I wanted to be back in West Texas," Kinney said.

Kinney graduated from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.

"While I was going to school at UTPB, I had heard about Monahans and their softball team.   I knew it had a good programs and that was where I wanted to be," Kinney said.

Her plans for the new season will be a little different from past seasons.

"We will have a tryout, so I can see where everyone can play.   We will also work more on our hitting," Kinney said.

After the tryouts, she will decide on twelve players for the varsity team.

The first game for the Lady Loboes will be a scrimmage against Midland Christian on Feb. 1, starting at 5:30 at home.
