Lady Loboes Blast Presidio 14-1 To Remain Atop District 3-3A

The Monahans Lady Loboes pounded out 14 runs on 15 hits to defeat the Presidio Lady Devils 14-1 and remain the only undefeated team in District 3-3A.

Monahans (17-4, 5-0) gave up an run early, but were never challenged after the first inning of the game.  In fact, the Ladies did not give up a hit the entire night.

Kaitlin Mitchell started the game in the circle for the Green.  She threw a total of 31 pitches in the first inning and struck out two batters.  However, Presidio scored their only run of the game after taking advantage of three walks in the inning.

Heather Schuler (15-1) entered the game in the second inning with an ERA of 1.03 and slammed the door on the Lady Devils.

Schuler increased her season strikeout total to 94 by sitting down five of the 12 PHS batters she faced by strikeout.  Her pitch total included 32 strikes on 42 pitches in four innings of play.

The MHS defense was solid once again, gunning down the Lady Devils to secure the no-hitter.

Monahans tied the game in the bottom of the first inning 1-1, then added four more runs in the second inning, eight in the third inning and closed the fourth inning with one run.

The Lady Loboes' offense was unstoppable, going 15-for-26 to score 14 runs and hammer in 9 RBI's on the night.

Ashton Jarrett led the Ladies on the night, going 2-for-3 at bat, picking up two RBI's and scoring two runs in the game.

MHS sophomore, first basemen Bailey Marcum continued to improve her District batting average of .667 by hitting 2-for-3 at the plate against PHS.  She banged in three big RBI's and scored a run in the game.

Equally as impressive, Brianna Chaney tagged the Lady Devil pitcher for three hits in four appearances at bat.  She scored two runs and picked up an RBI to improve her season batting average to a remarkable .542.

Lana Santiago had her usual 'big day' at the plate, hammering out two hits and two runs which included a triple.  She continued to lead the Ladies with a season batting average of .600 and a District 3-3A leading average of .800 in league games.

Brittany Slade also hit 2-for-3 and recorded an RBI and a run in the game, while Dina Ortiz collected an RBI and added a run for MHS in the game.

Heather Schuler scored a run, and Erin Garcia belted out two hits for a run and an RBI.

Of the seven walks surrendered by Presidio, Kaitlin Mitchell scored three runs as a recipient of the free pass to first base.

Monahans travels to Lamesa on Tuesday to close out the first half of district play against the Golden Tornadoes.

In another key game over the weekend, Greenwood defeated Pecos 3-0, to even their district record at 3-3.

The Rangerettes rebounded from a shutout in Monahans Tuesday to defeat the Lady Eagles on the road.  Greenwood is off until Friday, when they travel to Presidio to open the second half of District play with the Lady Devils.
