Softball Ladies Look for Rhythm in Scrimmages

The Monahans Lady Lobo softball team traveled east Saturday for a dual scrimmage with Midland High and Midland Christian.

The Ladies took on Class 5A Midland High in the opener, dropping a close 2-1 decision to the Lady Dawgs.

"I though we played good defensively," said first year coach David Parker.  "We struggled to get the bat on the ball and had scattered hitting.  We need to put it together to be more effective."

In the second match of the afternoon, Monahans ran into a hot Midland Christian team.  The Lady Mustangs were able to take advantage of some Monahans miscues, and defeated MHS 7-1.

MC capitalized on crucial Lobo errors, scoring all of their runs in one inning.

"We tried some different combinations in the game to try and find a rotation that will work for us," Coach Parker said.  "They took advantage of errors we made and it made the difference in the game."

The Lady Loboes travel to Andrews Tuesday for a scrimmage with the Lady Mustangs.

Andrews is coming off of a big playoff run in 2005, and will give Coach Parker a good idea of where his young team is going into the 2006 season.
