After Thursday night's win over Fort Stockton, the Lady Loboes have earned the district 2-3A softball championship.  There is still one more round in district competition, but the team's 6-0 district record guarantees the district title.  The Lady Loboes had the title in mind when they quickly took the lead against the Prowlers.

In the first inning, Monahans scored five runs compared to Fort Stockton's zero. The second  inning was scoreless, but both teams came back in the third with two runs each.  The Ladies brought home two in the fourth, and one in the sixth, while the Prowlers batted in one more in the seventh to make the final score Monahans 10, Stockton 3.

The Lady Loboes did well at bat, hitting 13 times with four doubles.  Dina Ortiz hit an out-of-the-park homerun in the fourth inning, which was good for two runs.

"We hit the ball well over-all.  However we did have 5 errors.  That many errors against some teams will cost us the win," said Coach David Parker of his playoff-bound team, whose first goal Thursday was to clinch the district championship.

"Now we just have to focus on finishing the season without a loss in district, our second goal.  As of today, dating back to last year, we have won 18 consecutive district games.

"Our main goal is to get to the state tournament in Austin.  I feel like we have the team to do it if we all go out and perform to our potential every time we step on the field."

The last round of district play begins this week.  Monday night, the Ladies will play Pecos at 5 pm in Monahans.
