Lady Loboes Crush Rangers, 13-0

The Monahans softball team played their first game of the
season in Monahans on Tuesday night against Greenwood. The Lady Loboes blew the
Rangerettes away in just five innings.
The Lady Loboes took a five run lead in the first innings. Three runs were second in the second, and four in the third. In the fourth inning, the ladies scored their final run.
Runs came from Schuler (4), Ortiz (3), Lana Santiago (3), Mitchell (1), Cota (1), and Marcum (1), for the total of 13.
While Greenwood had only seven hits, the Lady Loboes had 15. They came from Dina Ortiz and Lana Santiago, each with three. Barbara Cota, Bailey Marcum, and Heather Schuler each had two. Kaitlin Mitchell, Jenny Jarrett, and Kristi Wilson each had one. Ortiz hit two doubles, and Mitchell, Santiago, and Cota each hit triples.
Schuler pitched three innings for Monahans, and Mitchell pitched the other two. In 22 batters faced, there were seven hits, two walks, four strikeouts and no errors.
Last year, the Lady Lobo softball team won the championship in District 2-3A and defeated Lubbock Cooper for the Area Championship.
The JV and varsity teams will face Midland Lee on Tuesday, Feb. 20 in Monahans at 5 pm.
