Ladies Can't Shake OHS Pitchers

The Lady Loboes' softball team took on 5A Odessa High School at Ratliff on Tuesday in preparation for 3A playoffs.  The team learned a lesson in their 5-0 loss, and will take the experience into the area round.

The Ladies just didn't seem like themselves in the first two innings, when Monahans errors helped the Lady Bronchos come to a 4-0 lead with two runs per inning.  In the third inning, Monahans settled down and started to play tighter defense, allowing no more runs except for one out-of-the-park homerun.  Heather Schuler pitched the game.

Offensively, the lady Loboes couldn't get much past Odessa High's pitchers.

"I was frustrated more with our lack of hitting than I was by the defense.  Both of the pitchers we saw (Tuesday) are better than anyone we saw in district and it was difficult to make the adjustment," said Coach David Parker.

The Lady Loboes will likely be facing more tough pitchers the further they advance in the playoffs, and have another practice game coming up before Area.  Tuesday, the girls will play Midland Christian.

"I think we will be better prepared for Midland Christian next week.  I hope our eyes were opened some (Tuesday) night."

The Midland Christian game will be in Midland at Freddie Ezzell Softball Complex May 1 at 7 pm.
