Ramirez and Bean win doubles title

Division I Girls Doubles

Coach Josie Mc Anally showcased her girls doubles teams in Fort Stockton this past weekend and true to Lobo tradition, the girls went 7-1 in match play winning the doubles title and consolation.

Laura Ramirez and Tiffany Bean displayed their superior power and exceptional movement, eliminating the field in route to their Division I Girls Doubles title on Saturday.  Just as impressive, the team of Cheyenne Smith and Jennifer Rodriquez fought their way back from a first round setback to run the tables and claim the consolation place at the tournament.

"The girls played very well this weekend, and I am extremely proud of their accomplishments," Coach Mc Anally said.

Results:

Cheyenne Smith & Jennifer Rodriguez were defeated by Cruz & Lettunich of Fabens.

Lara Ramirez & Tiffany Bean defeated Mowry & Colliher of Ft Stockton.

Cheyenne Smith & Jennifer Rodriguez defeated Contreras & Frazier of Greenwood 8-2.

Lara Ramirez & Tiffany Bean defeated Clark & Torillo of Odessa High 6-3, 5-7, (10-4).

Cheyenne Smith & Jennifer Rodriguez defeated Bouse & Stwart of Artesia (NM) 8-5. (Consolation Match)

Lara Ramirez & Tiffany Bean defeated Chapbell & Smith of Greenwood 6-3, 6-6, (7-5).

Lara Ramirez & Tiffany Bean defeated Cortines & Stavinolia of Andrews by forfeit. (Championship Match)

Division I Boys Singles

Stephen Martinez was the only Lobo entered in the Boys Division I Singles. Martinez defeated Jody Garcia of Greenwood before facing the number one seed in the tournament.  Bryan Rainwater was everything his pre tournament seeding indicated he would be, moving into the next round be defeating Martinez.

Results:

Stephen Martinez defeated Jody Garcia of Greenwood 7-6, 7-2, 6-2.

Stephen Martinez was defeated by Brain Rainwater of Ft Stockton 6-0, 6-0.

Monahans will host the District 3-AAA Tennis Championships this weekend at the Lobo Tennis Complex.
