Lobo Netters Take First Place At Pecos

Monahans won first place at the Pecos Invitational tennis tournament over the weekend.  With 25 points, the Loboes clearly outdid Wink and Crane, who placed second and third with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Liz Truex placed first in girls' singles as teammate Madison Murray placed second.

In boys' singles, Michael Derrick place third.

The team of Laura Phipps and Hollie Derrick took first place.

Loren Miller and Alan Marquez placed second in in boys' doubles, while John Witucki and Peggy Huber took the gold in mixed doubles.

The team will be in the most important tournament of the season to-date at the Team Regionals this weekend. Two paired schools will compete against each other in 19 matches, including six girls' singles, six boys' singles, three boys' doubles, three girls' doubles and one mixed doubles. The first team to win a majority of those matches (ten) goes over to the next round. The team winning less than ten matches will play in consolation.

Team play begins early Friday morning in Levelland.
