Monahans has entered 41participants in the 2007 Region 1-3A meet.  After the second consecutive year that the Monahans teams have won both district titles, coaches and athletes are looking to make an impression at the regional meet, where they will compete against seven other districts in conference 3A.

Jordan Latham qualified for five regional events, more that anyone else on either the boys' or girl's Monahans teams.  Latham won first place in the 100-meter dash in the district.  Her stiffest competition will come from district 6-3A, where all three regional qualifiers finished in under 12 seconds.  Latham will also compete in the sprint relay, the 4 X 200-meter relay, the long jump, and the high jump.

Freshman Kati Holly high jumped a 5-2 at the district meet, which was the best height recorded at all three meets in the region and was shared by two other contestants.  Emily Eisenrich of Andrews won district 3-3A with a high jump of 5-2, and Chelsi Thomas took second place in that district with the same height.  The region title and state berths will likely be a battle between these three girls.

The Lobo boys' team has two freshmen on its regional roster:  Nate Adams and Quincy Titus.  Adams and Titus will compete in the 110 hurdles.  Adams took first in varsity with a time of 16.58, while Titus won the JV event in 17.40.

Michael Murphree will compete in both the shot put and the discus.  His qualifying throws for the respective events are 49-04 and 147-09.

Jarred Till will represent district 2-3A, as will teammate Arnold Rodriguez.  Both seniors at Monahans High.  Till had a jump of 6-0.  The only 3-A district in the region with jumps better than 6-0 is 8-3A, where the top three finished at 6-4, 6-2 and 6-2.

The Region 1-3A meet will be held at Odessa at Ratliff Stadium.  The Loboes are one of several teams that have had the opportunity to compete at Ratliff earlier in the season at the West Texas Relays.

Preliminary field events will be held on Friday, beginning at 10 am.  Also on Friday is the 3200-meter run at 1:30 pm, followed by running preliminaries at 2 pm.  Saturday, field event finals begin at 9, while running finals start at 1:15.
