Ladies Continue to Dominate Competition

Brittany Hughes had 17 kills, 6 blocks, 3 digs, and six service aces
Tuesday to lead the #1 states
ranked Lady Loboes volleyball team to a 25-8,
25-14, 25-4 victory over Alpine in non-district action.
Allison Miller added 8 kills, 3 digs, and 1 black for Monahans, who also got 31 assists, 4 kills, 3 digs, 3 blacks and 2 aces from settler Candace Swarb. Catherine Cutbirth had 5 kills, 5 digs, and an ace. Bethany Willmon added 5 kills, 1 block, 2 assists, and 5 digs.
Bailey Marcum recorded 3 kills, 2 blocks, 11 digs, and 2 aces. Dina Ortiz had 2 digs.
Monahans traveled to Frenship and beat Lubbock Monterey 25-9, 25-8, 25-15, and Frenship 25-14, 25-20, 25-16 in a dual match last Saturday.
Against Monterrey, Candace Swarb lead the Ladies with 24 assists, 1 kill, 2 blocks, and 2 digs. Brittany Hughes added 9 kills, 4 blocks, 1 assist, 6 digs, and 4 aces.
Allison Miller recorded 10 kills, 3 blocks, and 2 digs, as Bethany Willmon added 2 kills, 1 block, and 6 digs.
Catherine Cutbirth had 5 kills, 2 blocks, 4 digs, and 1 ace, and Bailey Marcum nailed 5 kills, 1 block, 1 assist, 4 digs, and an ace. Dina Ortiz had 9 digs and 2 aces in the match.
"We stayed focused and got the job done," Coach Dominguez said. "The girls continue to work hard and understand our goals."
Against Frenship, Hughes had 21 kills, 5 blocks, 1 assist, 5 digs, and 7 aces to lead the Green. Allison miller came up with 10 kills, 1 block, and 1 dig. Candace Swarb recorded 1 kill, 1 block, an incredible 35 assists, 4 digs, and an ace. Bethany Willmon added 4 kills, 2 blocks, with 10 digs, and Cutbirth claimed 3 kills, 4 digs, and an ace. Marcum had 4 kills, 1 block, 9 digs, and an ace. Dina Ortiz finished the night with 4 digs, and 1 ace.
"Jennifer (Jasso) has really worked with her team, and they are scrappy," Dominguez said. "They are fundamentally sound and getting better."
The Lady Loboes (28-1), get a well-deserved break this weekend, and return to the court Tuesday evening for a dual match with Lubbock Coronado and Odessa High at the Jerry Larned Sports Complex.
