Hughes Named To West All-Stars

Brittany Hughes has been selected to play on the West All-Star squad, at the annual Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Volleyball game.

TGCA named Hughes to the 1A-2A-3A West Volleyball All-Star team. The game will match Texas' best volleyball players from the East and West regions of Texas.

The TGCA all-star game will be held at the Daniel Meyer Coliseum on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, July 12.

In addition to the West All-Star honor, she was selected as the District 3-3A MVP, the San Angelo Standard-Times All-West Texas MVP, Class 3A State Finals All-Tournament Team, Class 3A First Team All-State, and Class 3A Academic All-State.

Hughes finished  her career at Monahans ranked first in United States high school volleyball history for kills (2,678) and kills pre-match (17.6 in 2004), 10th in kills in a season (808) in 2004) and eighth in career blocks (516)3

She is the daughter of Kim and Melody Hughes, both of Monahans.
