The Monahans Lady Loboes gained their first district win in Presidio on Tuesday. The weather was hot and dry, but the Ladies were cool and calm in their three-game win, 25-7, 25-10 and 25-14.

Monahans played a solid game one, and ended it with an ace for a commanding 25-7 win.

When Heather Schulz (15) began serving in the middle of game two, the team ended it with a 12 point run to the finish, including three aces. Presidio broke one of Schulz's serves  into a courteous set for Bailey Marcum (23), who slammed the ball into the corner of the Presidio court.

"We got the ball back at 14-10 and then Heather went back to serve, and we never looked back. I am extremely proud of the mental discipline they used to keep working together and keep working together and keep Presidio at 10," said head volleyball coach Patty Dominguez.

Schulz finally missed a serve at the beginning of game three, giving Presidio the sideout and Point. The Blue Devils shortly took the lead, and shortly lost it when Marcum blasted a kill that scared Presidio's from line to step aside. The point tied the teams at two, and that was the climax of the night's excitement. The remainder of the match was ruled by Monahans.

"Naturally after that type of intensity we made a couple of mental errors in game three so they scored 14," explained Dominguez, whose team scored more than double the opponents'.

Marcum ended the night with 14 kills, one assist, two blocks, one dig and four aces.

Latham had four kills, four digs and four aces.

"Jordan (Latham) was a good example. She was not as consistent on the net, but she came up big for us defensively and at serving line," said Dominguez. Schulz, star server of the night had nine aces, four digs and five kills.

Kristi Holly had one kill and one dig.

Kati Holly had five kills, one assist and served two aces.

"Kati (Holly) got into the action more offensively, and we need that. So, I am pleased that she is gaining more confidence and becoming more comfortable asking for the ball," said Dominguez.

Shelbi Cornelius had four kills and three digs.

"All of this under the strong leadership of Kaitlin Mitchell. She is truely an asset for us. She continues to make the right decisions directing the offense and is constantly keeping the opposing middle blockers guessing," said Dominguez.

Mitchell had 27 assists against Presidio as well as one kills, an ace and four digs.

The team's record is now 25-10, 1-0. This Saturday, the Lady Loboes' remain on the road. In Pecos, Monahans will take on the Lady Eagles. Varsity games are scheduled at 1pm.
