Lady Loboes Take Two in San Angelo

San Angelo's Lake View High was the site of Tuesday night's Lady Lobo victories over Sweetwater and Lake View.

The Varsity team now has an improved 21-7 record and is the third-ranked 3A team in the state according to the Texas Girls' Coaches Association.

Against the Lake View Maidens, Monahans won in three games, 25-9, 25-20 and 25-11.

Bailey Marcum and Jordan Latham tied in kills with seven each. Heather Schulz followed closely with five.

Marcum served five of the team's 11 aces.

Kaitlin Mitchell had 21assists.

The JV defeated Lake View in two games, 25-10 and 25-14.

The Freshman team also won in two games, 25-20 and 25-16.

Monahans' second foe in the dual was the Sweetwater Lady Mustangs, who they repeated 25-8, 25-27 and 25-12.

Latham had nine kills, eight digs and four aces.

Marcum was all over the court with seven kills, four blocks, two digs and three aces.

Setter Mitchell had 20 assists but also did her part in kills and blocks with one each.  Mitchell also had three digs.

Schulz contributed five kills and five digs, a block and an ace against Sweetwater.

Senior Bertha Felan had three digs and an ace

The presence of Sophomores Kristi and Kati Holly and Shelby Cornelius was felt by their teammates.

Kati Holly had three kills, one block, two digs and three aces.

Kristy Holly had four kills and two blocks, while the other Kristi on the team, Wilson, had two digs.

Shelby Cornelius had one block, one assist and one dig.

The JV team beat Sweetwater 25-12 and 25-13.

The Freshman team won 2-13 and 25-11.

Saturday, the Varsity will compete in their final dual of the season, this time against Canyon and Coronado in Lubbock at 12:30 pm.

The freshman will participate in a Denver City tournament on Saturday.
