In Monahans Wickett Pyote ISD, Lobo athletics is about far more than just what happens on the scoreboard—it is a training ground for life. Being a Lobo means stepping onto the field, court, or track with an unrelenting drive for excellence. Our athletic department is built on the belief that true success comes from relentless hard work, ironclad discipline, and unwavering sportsmanship. When our student-athletes put in the effort day after day, they build a sense of pride and belonging that ripples through our halls and brings the entire MWPISD community together.

Competing as a Lobo instills habits that serve our kids long after they cross the stage at graduation. The physical grit and mental toughness developed in our programs translate directly into the classroom. Learning to balance rigorous practice schedules with academic responsibilities sharpens time management, boosts focus, and builds the kind of study habits that lead to top-tier academic performance. Through every sprint, drill, and game, our athletes learn resilience—how to handle adversity, manage stress, and come back stronger every single time.

Above all, being part of Monahans Wickett Pyote athletics means representing our community with high character and extreme pride. We expect our coaches, players, and staff to carry themselves with honor, showing total respect for opponents, officials, and the game itself. Athletics at MWPISD isn't just an extracurricular; it is a powerful vehicle for building strong leaders, lifelong fitness habits, and selfless teammates. Every time our athletes step out in green, they carry the spirit of our community with them, striving every day to be better than they were yesterday.

  • NO ARTIFICIAL NOISEMAKERS: Horns, shakers, propane tanks, whistles, etc.

    More Information about noisemakers:

UIL noisemakers policy varies by sport and venue; while artificial noisemakers like air horns, whistles, and drums are generally prohibited at UIL athletic events, some sports, particularly football and baseball, may allow homemade, non-amplified items like cowbells, shakers, clappers, or inflatable thundersticks, but rules must be checked for the specific event and sport. Indoor events, such as those held in gymnasiums, typically prohibit all artificial noisemakers, including cowbells.

    General UIL noisemaker policy:

Artificial noisemakers are not allowed: in stands at most UIL events.

Prohibited items: include air horns, whistles, propane tanks, drums, and any items intended for percussive noise.

Homemade noisemakers: are sometimes permitted, but must not block views or be considered good sportsmanship.

Examples of permitted noisemakers (sport/venue dependent):

    Handheld cowbells

    Shakers

    Clappers

    Inflatable thundersticks

Homemade noisemakers (e.g., jugs with beads)

Examples of prohibited noisemakers: Handheld air horns, Whistles, Propane tanks, Drums or drum-like instruments, and any items to create percussive noise like sticks or buckets
